“WHATEVER ROTARY MAY MEAN TO US, TO THE WORLD IT WILL BE KNOWN BY THE RESULTS IT ACHIEVES." —PAUL P. HARRIS

Service Above Self

Rotary is a global network of 1.2 million neighbors, friends, leaders, and problem-solvers who come together to make positive, lasting change in communities at home and abroad.

Solving real problems takes real commitment and vision. For more than 110 years, Rotary members have used their passion, energy, and intelligence to take action on sustainable projects. From literacy and peace to water and health, we are always working to better our world, and we stay committed to the end.

To encourage public support for the effort to eradicate polio, Rotary has welcomed a select group of celebrities and other notable figures to join a new public awareness campaign: "This Close." Participants including Archbishop Emeritus Desmond Tutu, violinist Itzhak Perlman, actor Jackie Chan, Queen Noor of Jordan, golfer Jack Nicklaus, Grammy Award-winning musicians Angélique Kidjo and Ziggy Marley, and conservationist Jane Goodall explain that "we're this close to ending polio."Rotary's This Close ads, as well as its Humanity in Motion public service announcements, include preproduced television, radio, print, Internet, and billboard materials that focus on Rotarians' volunteer efforts to address critical needs such as polio eradication, peace, literacy, health, and water.

All resources are free to download and are designed to help you promote Rotary and its commitment to providing humanitarian service around the world. Please use these materials to obtain free or low-cost placements with local media outlets or to develop creative, nontraditional placements in your community. You are encouraged to adapt them to suit your language, culture, or region. The goal of Rotary's "This Close" and Humanity in Motion campaigns is to increase public awareness of what Rotary is and does – including its long-standing commitment to ending polio worldwide. They also aim to encourage qualified candidates to learn more about membership in Rotary.
